Sarpy County, Nebraska will celebrate 150 years on February 2, 2007.  We are planning a CELEBRATION that will highlight our community values, historical events, prosperity and the overall collaboration between Sarpy County, Bellevue, Papillion, LaVista, Gretna, Springfield, Offutt Air Force Base, all of our schools and businesses and the fine citizens who reside here.

This public art project called "Sarpy County - Plains to Planes" will help us recognize both the history and prosperity that this County has seen since 1857.  "Buffalo and Airplanes" will help us capture both the buffalo roaming the open plains of our past while the airplanes will depict the open sky of our present and future.

Uniquely crafted steel buffalo and airplane sculptural benches have been designed and ARTISTS are being chosen for participation in turning these benches into "Works of Art."  By creatively painting these sculptures they will depict our community values, historical events, our citizen's qualities or use their artistic style to show the County as THEY see it.  Stay tuned for further information about the designs submitted for these 150th Celebration benches!!
