WELCOME! The men and women of the Sarpy County E-911 Center invite you to look around and learn about our center and the face behind the voice.
By browsing our site, you can learn about our communications system in case you have an emergency and need to call 9-1-1. You will be better prepared to answer the questions a dispatcher will ask and the instructions they will give to help you. And, as a citizen of Sarpy County, you will learn what you should expect from the operator on the other end of the line. We understand our citizens must rely on nameless, faceless dispatchers to handle their calls. We want you to see the faces of those who serve our county 24 hours a day - 365 days a year. We are very proud of our staff and here is your chance to meet them!
Emergencies occur daily. They include vehicle accidents, fire and rescue calls--at school, the workplace and in the home. Communications between law enforcement, firefighter, rescue, and public works agencies are critical in these emergency situations.Disasters can deprive people of the basic necessities of life -- things like food, shelter, health or the ability to continue earning a living. In a matter of minutes disasters can devastate an entire community.Much can, and must be done to prevent or reduce the impact of disasters. As outlined in our mission statement and in our vision for the future, the Sarpy County Communication Agency works to reduce risks, strengthen support systems, and help people in our community prepare for and cope with disasters.
The Sarpy County Communications Center, located in Papillion, Nebraska (just south of Omaha) operates 24 hours a day, processing public and agency communications courteously and efficiently. 911 is the three digit telephone number designated in the United States as the universal emergency number. Cities and unincorporated areas of Sarpy County join the over 85 percent of US citizens who can request emergency assistance by dialing 9-1-1.

Vision for the FutureThe best prepared and educated citizens in the nation on what to do before, during and after a disaster--to protect themselves, their families, their homes, and their businesses On the Average We handle approximately 50,000 emergency 911 calls per year and over 100,000 non-emergency calls. This includes both police and fire/rescue incidents, but does not take into account the thousands of calls we transfer or refer to other agencies. Out of all of our calls, approximately 50 percent come from cellular phones.
