COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD January 2, 2008
The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on January 2, 2008 at 17:05 pm, in the Sarpy County Board Room. The following members or alternates were present: Travis Mayer, Ed Monnier, Brett Schwasinger, Bob Lausten, Bill Bowes, Steve Betts, Jeff Davis, Bob Roseland, John Stacey, Brian Hanson, Leonard Houloose, and Rolly Yost.
Mayer moved, seconded by Betts to approve the minutes of the November 7, 2007 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Director’s Report: Lavelle reported that two new employees have been hired and are in first phase of training.
9-1-1 switch project is ongoing. Measurements have been taken and it appears current space will accommodate the new equipment. The goal is to have the installation, training, and implementation occur not later than the first quarter of this year. Ongoing work continues on the AVAYA phone system upgrade and new switch installation.
Lavelle reported that an RFP was prepared and on the street for the UPS. Still reviewing the bids at this time.
Moving forward on the repairs to the LaVista tower site.
Final piece of the remodel project was completed today with the installation of shelving in storage area.
County representatives continue to meet and discuss the 800 Mhz Interlocal agreement. The intent is to have options available in the first quarter of this year to present to each city’s administration. Expiration of current agreement is April 2009.
Lausten requested information regarding accessibility to talk groups that can be utilized by all agencies in the metro area in light on the incident at the Westroads Mall in December 2007. There is to be an incident review of this in the near future and at that time would be a chance for this item to be discussed.
Subcommittee Reports: None.
General Reports:
John Prince: Codespear servers have been delivered. Testing is anticipated mid January. After testing is complete, should be ready for user input.
Steve Betts: Requested to know where we stand on grant funding.
Neil Johnson: Several items are on the agenda for 2008: 911 switch and AVAYA upgrades, UPS, Fire/Rescue Paging, and rebanding. Completed testing of medical helicopter talkgroup that will be compatible with LifeNet Dispatch.
Emergency Management: Lavelle advised that he will be attending a two day meeting in North Platte January 29th and 30th. Advised will get a better feel from the Governor’s Office in regards to grant funding. Still waiting on word regarding allocation of funds.
Lavelle reported that ice observation has begun.
Motion made by Betts, seconded by Mayer to adjourn the meeting at 5:55 pm.
