Minutes of the Meeting

March 1, 2006

5:30 PM

 

The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on March 1, 2006 at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room.  The following members, alternates, or representatives were present:  Brett Schwasinger, John Stacey, Travis Mayer, Jeff Strawn, Kevin Pokorny, Rolly Yost, Bob Roseland, Mark Wayne, Steve Betts, Kirk Schuster, and Leonard Houloose.

 

Minutes:  Schuster moved, seconded by Stacey, to approve the minutes of the January  4, 2006 meeting.

 

Director’s Report:  Larry Lavelle covered the following subjects with discussion following: the E911 and Administrative call statistics for the month of January, the current status of Phase II wireless implementations including the requests from the remaining vendors, and the need for a technical sub-committee group being formed of end users of Mobile Data Computers (MDC) to examine software applications.  Marilyn Gable updated the Board on the staffing/training status of current personnel and the addition of another workstation in the Center.

 

Subcommittee Reports:  Fire SOG review committee (Steve Betts and Jeff Strawn) advised they have been working on Help a Firefighter SOG and Evacuation Tones procedures.  The items would be discussed with the fire chiefs after the meeting.  Law SOG review committee (no report).

 

Reports and General Updates: John Prince (absent) and Steve Betts no report.

Elmer Martin Updated information from Motorola regarding client licenses for the fire departments.  Neil Johnson discussed and summarized the history or radio caches as required by UASI.  Each department will need to identify the analog radios to be placed in their cache.  Neil also reported that the system has been running fine.  Neil advised the group that there is a life cycle issue in regards to mobile data infrastructure.  Motorola is aware and will give us a plan for the future.  

 

Reports/Emergency Management:  Joe Mastandrea briefed the group on the upcoming incident command 24 hour training being held at the Bellevue Fire Training Center the week of March 27th.  Joe advised the class is full.  Instructors will be coming from Alabama.  Joe also advised the group of upcoming storm spotter training and training for emergency response to domestic biological incidents.   

After determining the agenda for the May 3, 2006 meeting, Stacey moved, seconded by Yost to adjourn at 6:06 PM.  Motion passes unanimously.
