Minutes of the Meeting

September 7, 2005

5:30 PM

The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on September 7, 2005 at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room.  The following members, alternates or representatives were present:  Rod Buethe, Kirk Schuster, Steve Betts, Travis Mayer, and Gary Troutman.  Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times.  Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerk’s Office.  All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

The by laws requirement of a quorum were not met.  Approval of meeting minutes will be held over until November meeting.

Director’s Report:  Larry Lavelle covered  the following subjects with discussion following:  Heartland Disaster Action Team, Budget approval for EM and 911, Phase II wireless testing and implementation update,  staffing, organizational structure, job descriptions, space allocation in courthouse basement, back up and redundant systems, transition for rebanding of radios,  UASI grant and funding, and 911 call data.

Subcommittee Reports:  None

Reports and General Updates:  John Prince notified members of Printrak/ Motorola Users Conference coming up in October that he and Elmer will be attending,  Elmer Martin (None), Steve Betts (None), and Neil Johnson (Vacation).

Reports/Emergency Management:  Joe Mastandrea advised the group of the LEOP status.  Larry Lavelle advised full-time status of Lisa Rink.

911 Center Supervisor Gable advised the group that the budgetary request for an additional dispatcher had been approved.  This position was filled by rehiring a previous employee that will be ready to be placed on shift next week.  Still have four dispatchers in training, one will reach qualification November 20th, the other three are scheduled for completion in February 2006.   

After determining the agenda for the November 2, 2005 meeting, meeting adjourned at 6:05 PM.
