COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD

Minutes of the January 3, 2001 Meeting


The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on January 3, 2001, at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room. The following members or alternates were present: S. P. Benson, John Stacey, Mark Wayne, Tom Koksal, Travis Mayer, Pat Archibald, Rod Beuthe, Len Houloose, Rich Schmidt and Bo Addleman. Absent: Louis Post and Pat Thomas. Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerk’s Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Tramp moved, seconded by Wayne, to approve the minutes of the November 1, 2000 meeting.  Motion passed unanimously.

Director's Report: Peterson reported that Communications Center personnel consist of 24 qualified, 3 in training; one resigned recently and another will resign by mid-February. There were no 800 MHz problems reported since the last meeting. Users should report any noted. The new recorder, which can record 16 more channels than the old recorder, is installed and performing well. No update from OPD on whether Northern Airborne Technologies completed the Supplemental Type Certificate for the OPD Helicopter. After reviewing the statistics for radio special features, all user agencies are reminded to verify the need for radio special features in writing on a per radio basis to the Director. John Prince updated the Board on CAD/LRMS-FRMS projects.

The President reported on the overwhelming number of 9-1-1misdials, and whether any could be due to specific telephone company hardware problems. Alternatives will be explored at the next meeting.

Rolly Yost reported that two new training talkgroups were created.

Stacey opened the election of a Vice-President by thanking Dan Hoins for serving in that capacity prior to becoming Papillion City Administrator. Wayne moved, seconded by Schmidtz, to nominate Houloose to complete Hoins’ term. Motion passed unanimously. There being no further nominations, Benson moved, seconded by Archibald, to cease nominations and acclaim by voice vote. Motion passed unanimously.

 

After determining the agenda for the March 7, 2001 meeting, Betts moved, seconded by Buethe to adjourn at 5:55 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
