COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and
public session on January 5, 2000, at 5:35 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room. The
following members or alternates were present: John Stacey, Paul Schultz, Dan Hoins, Travis
Mayer, John Kucer, Jon Pearson, Louie Post, Mark Wayne and Steve Betts. Absent:
Papillion Fire Chief, Mark Stoddard and Guy Tramp.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerk's Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Stacey moved, seconded by Schultz, to approve the minutes of the October 6, 1999 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Dan Petersons began the Director's Report reporting no major system performance problems have occurred since the last meeting. Personnel Status: He briefed the continuing shortage. Miscellaneous: Miscellaneous: The Springfield fire paging antenna is being replaced due to poor performance. He updated on the CAD/RMS/FRMS/JMS and Mugshot implementation. Stacey moved, seconded by Schultz, to create a Printrak Users Group Subcommittee, to be chaired by John Prince of Sarpy County Information Systems and comprised of members from each department to discuss and resolve issues involving Printrak systems and report to the Advisory Board. Motion passed unanimously. E911 Consoles were upgraded in November and 800 MHz Y2K upgrades were completed in early December. Double shifts worked fine the night of December 31 into the morning of January 1, when normal staffing was deemed sufficient. Congratulations to all agencies for their cooperation. Lessons learned should be documented.
President Hoins also thanked dispatch for handling Y2K so well.
Mayer moved, seconded by Pearson, to approve Salvation Army Request to participate on 800 MHZ with private call receive and receive capability on Law and Fire East and West and media only. Motion passed unanimously.
Stacey moved, seconded by Schultz, to authorize programming six more radios for the Metro Area Drug Task Force. Discussion centered on whether these radios are used for day-to-day operations, and various security and convenience issues. Motion passed unanimously, but law enforcement agencies will meet to plan the future of these talk groups.
After determining the agenda for the March 1, 2000 meeting, Betts moved, seconded by Post, to adjourn at 6:20 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
