COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD

Minutes of the January 20, 1999 Meeting


The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on January 20, 1999, at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room. The following members or alternates were present:  John Stacey, S. P. Benson, Paul Schultz, John Larson, Dan Hoins, John Kucer, Travis Mayer, Bob Wollenburg, John Strawn, and Mark Wayne.
Absent:  Louie Post, Mark Stoddard.

Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerk's Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Stacey moved, seconded by Mayer, to approve the minutes of the December 2, 1998 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

Dan Peterson gave the Director's Report reporting no system performance problems have occurred since the last meeting. MDC/ATIA: The Memex CEO and Matt Marshall are no longer with the company. Memex is considering our request for the CAD source code. Midlands Hospital has received feedback and decided to repair its VHF low band radio. Bellevue Public Schools has begun installing 89 800 MHz trunked radios in its school busses. Personnel Status: He briefed the continuing shortage, with 26 qualified dispatchers and four in training out of an authorized strength of 32. Two will be hired to enter training next week. Miscellaneous: Senator Engels has introduced LB 570, amending 9-1-1 surcharges to include wireless. The Sarpy County CAD/RMS RFP requires vendor submissions by February 8 and tentative contract award in March 1999. Seven companies attended the pre-bid conference on January 11.

President Hoins reported that Federal funds might be available in support of a new CAD system. Hoins thanked the 800 MHz and CAD/RMS subcommittees, which explored potential improvements in communication and service provision between Douglas and Sarpy County public safety organizations. Kucer presented on behalf of the CAD/RMS subcommittee and Stacey presented on behalf of the 800 MHz subcommittee. Both subcommittees are to continue meeting as needed and present findings at the next meeting.

After determining the agenda for the March 3, 1999 meeting, Benson moved, seconded by Stacey, to adjourn at 6:30 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
