COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
Minutes of the April 2, 1997 Meeting
5:30 PM

The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on April 2, 1997, at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Room. The following members or alternates were present: S. P. Benson, Dan Hoins, Rolly Yost, Guy Tramp, Les McCubbin, Paul Schultz, John Stacey, Mark Stoddard, Mark Wayne, Travis Mayer, and Jon Morrison.
Absent: Louie Post.

Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerk's Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Yost moved, seconded by Stoddard to approve the minutes of the March 5, 1997 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

Joe Mastandrea read Dan Peterson's written Director's Report into the record. Director was diagnosed with a severely herniated lumbar disk last week. Neurologist directed bed rest until mid-May, in hope to resolve condition. However, the prognosis is not optimistic and follow-on surgery is highly likely. Director will continue to address matters from home to the maximum extent possible. Personnel: the last trainee continues to make excellent progress, and should complete training by the end of April. MDC program development continues with feedback from users to AMT. As of today, Datamaxx indicates they will be at Sarpy to install Connectivity Network Service on April 24-25. Work will begin next week on the FY'98 Budget. Advisory Board members will receive draft Budget submission by the last week in April.

Chairman Benson reported that special meetings are possible due to Director's condition.

Siren Subcommittee Chairman Stacey described the importance of feedback to accomplishing siren consolidation by 2003. Benson indicated that the issue is on the April 14 Bellevue City Council Agenda and passage is probable. Stoddard indicated that the Springfield City Council had discussed it on April 1. Gretna agrees in principle, and would prefer a timely transition. Dan Gable indicated that John Strawn agrees with the siren consolidation in principle. McCubbin indicated that siren consolidation is on the next LaVista City Council meeting.

Yost indicated to the Board that the Omaha helicopter agreement is on hold until after the Omaha mayoral election. The City of Omaha Legal Department is exchanging revisions with Yost.

Senior Operator Marilyn Gable indicated that the trainee mentioned in Peterson's report would complete training by April 28. Mayer indicated that meetings with Senior Dispatchers after the last Advisory Board meeting would probably lead to a review of Fire SOG's.

After determining the agenda for the May 7, 1997 meeting, Tramp moved, seconded by Stoddard, to adjourn at 5:45 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
