COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
The Communications Advisory Board Committee was convened in open and public session on July 5, 2000, at 5:30 PM, in the Sarpy County Board Meeting Room. The following members or alternates were present: Dan Hoins, John Stacey, John Kucer, Pat Archibald, Steve Betts, Louis Post, Rod Buethe, Bo Addleman, Bill Roach, Paul Schultz, Travis Mayer, Brian Hanson. Absent: John Strawn. Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file in the Sarpy County Clerks Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Post moved, seconded by Mayer, to approve the minutes of the May 3, 2000 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Director's Report: Peterson reported that storm damage on June 25 required replacement of the Bellevue Tower 800 MHz transmit antenna. Springfield fire paging transmitter has not yet been relocated to the Platteview Tower. He reported a request and approval by phone vote for OPD to use one 800 MHz radio in their Mobile Command Center as of June 1. Inputs concerning pagers in use on the county system were requested for database build for the new Zetron paging system. Communications Center personnel26 qualified, 5 in training. If no obstacles arise, new CAD "go live" is scheduled to begin 0900 on July 11. Dispatcher service may be a bit slower until experience is gained. Peterson presented Angie Kucer an "Excellence Award" for her role in preparing dispatchers for the new CAD. Peterson presented an FY01 budget change that requested approval for the county to employ Neil Johnson in support of radio and telecommunications systems at a salary of $56K per year effective Sep 1, 2000. This would save about $25K in operating cost per year. Mayer moved, seconded by Roach that the proposal as presented be approved. Motion passed unanimously. Peterson will convey boards approval to the Budget Committee. An update of the Printrak Project was provided including an open issue with SCAs MDC 5.0 version interface with State. John Prince provided comments on the Printrak Project.
President Hoins offered no official report and opened the floor for election of officers.
Moved by Roach, seconded by Buethe that the elections be conducted without secret ballot. Motion passed unanimously. Mayer nominated Stacey for President, seconded by Schultz. Kucer moved, seconded by Hoins to close nominations. Motion passed, Stacey elected President unanimously. Stacey nominated Hoins for Vice President, seconded by Kucer. Mayer moved, seconded by Roach, to close nominations. Motion passed, Hoins elected Vice President unanimously. Hanson nominated Wayne for Secretary, seconded by Stacey. Roach moved, seconded by Betts to close nominations. Motion passed, Wayne elected Secretary unanimously.
After determining the agenda for the Sep 6, 2000 meeting, Post moved, seconded by Betts to adjourn at 6:25 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
