Dan Peterson gave an informal Director's Report, noting that $15,760 in additional overtime was requested for the 1998 budget due to dispatcher resignation and two extended maternity leaves. The FOP is aware that the County Board has cut the uniform allowance by half. Thirty percent has been cut from travel and lodging requests. Tuesday, August 26 is the Final Budget Hearing at 7 PM in the County Board Room. The County Attorney reviewed and approved our request to have the E911 and Consolidated Communications budgets combined, which will ease budget management. The County Attorney has prepared a letter to our vendor AMT citing lack of adequate performance. It gives the vendor 60 days to remedy the situation. One dispatcher in training is making good progress. A second will begin training on August 18th. Pat Talley will be retiring on August 29th. Details will be provided soon regarding a retirement party.
Stacey introduced two representatives of the Omaha Police Department helicopter unit, and discussed communication guidelines for mutual aid operations. Helicopter 800 MHz radios will have the event and common channels. A meeting will be held to develop request procedures.
The next meeting is September 3, 1997.
