All transactions must be done with the State of Nebraska drivers license examiners between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday-Friday. State examiners are not available on holidays and Arbor Day, the last Friday in April.

Many driver's license or State IDs can be renewed online. Many duplicates can be processed online. The main exceptions are those who have not updated their current address, CDLs (commercial), those under 21 years of age and those 72 or older.
Click on the following link to see substantial new security initiative changes to driver's license. In particular you will need TWO PROOFS OF PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE, I.E. proofs of your address. Acceptable proofs are at the second link below. The two proof's of address are required for all transactions involving driver's licenses and state ID's. There are no exceptions.
Veterans' Registry & VETERAN designation on driver's license:
Effective July 1, 2014 veterans may obtain a veterans designation/indicator on your driver license or state ID. In order to do this you must first register with the Nebraska Veterans' Affairs Office or the county veterans' service officer. You will need your original or certified copy of your DD-214 to complete the registration. Proceed to VETERANS' REGISTRY WEB PAGE to complete your registration. Parent supervised driving program
If a person is under 21 years of age and does not have approved address verification documents, they may provide two of the parents address verification documents. The address on the documents must agree with where the child actually lives and with the address on the license.
Taxpayers may take care of any drivers' license/state ID transaction in any county in the State of Nebraska. You NO longer have to return to your county of residence. Some of the smaller counties only have State of Nebraska Examiners available on specific days and you must see a drivers examiner. Payment options: We are able to accept cash, check, debit cards or credit cards. There is a $2.95 fee for a debit card and a 2.49% fee for a credit card. Prepaid cards are treated as a credit card.
Licensing fees vary greatly based on the type of license. Regular IDs and driver's licenses cost $26.50, CDL's are $57.50, non commercial duplicates are $13.50 and non commercial name or address changes are $13.50. RENEWING YOUR LICENSE:
Online Renewals or Duplicates: You may be able to renew your license or obtain a duplicate online. The key factor is that nothing can be changed and you don't have a commercial license. It will be sent to the address of record and will NOT be forwarded if the address has changed. Make sure and bring two proofs of your address whenever you come to conduct drivers license or state ID business!
You may renew your expiring Nebraska license within 90 days (not three months) prior to the expiration date. For renewals, it is recommended that you be here by 3:30 PM at the latest. If you are approaching your 21st birthday, you may complete the paperwork for renewing your license within 60 days of your birthday, however, you can not have the actual permanent license mailed to you until 10 days prior to your birthday. You can receive your temporary paper license early but it will not be effective until 10 days prior to your birthday.
The heaviest congestion in the offices is usually the periods immediately after release from school and Fridays in particular. If it is convenient for you, first thing in the morning or early morning is the least congested.
New Nebraska Resident:
If you are new to the state of Nebraska you should get a new Nebraska license within 30 days. Normally, you will not have to take a test but that determination will be made by the state examiners. Effective July 1, 2014 your old out of state driver's license must be REAL ID Compliant to be a valid form of identification. Please see: Real ID requirement
If you move to a new address, you should update your Nebraska license within 60 days. Please bring two proofs of your new address or else we cannot change your address and see the State of Nebraska examiners. Approved proofs of address
In order to change a name on a driver's license you need to provide a certified copy of the document changing changing the name. This would be a certified marriage license, signed and dated divorce decree, or signed and dated court order. Certifiied divorce decree or court order must state that your name has changed. You must also bring two proofs of your address, whether it has changed or not, and see the State of Nebraska examiners. DMV approved proofs of address

All driver's license and state ID transactions are conducted by the State of Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle Examiners. The only function of the county is the issuance of a temporary license and collection of the appropriate fees and maintaining this web page. We are open until 4:45 so if you complete your evaluation by the state examiners we are open to process your temporary license.
