The Sarpy County Emergency Planning Committee meeting was called to
order by Information Coordinator Joe Mastandrea at the Papillion Fire Hall on June 10,
1998.
The following members or alternates were present: Matt Albino (for Les
McCubbin), Paul Birney, Candy Borman, Ron Clark, Dave Coombs, Mike Dineen, Bob DeVriendt,
Dan Gable (for John Strawn), Marilyn Gable, Tom Hanson, Steve Jordan, Scott Keep, Joe
Mastandrea, Clay Mayrose, George McTwiggan, Nancy Noda, Ken Noel, Dan Peterson, Rod Ripley
(for Rich Weber), Tim Schram, Jack Syphers (for Gary Fliehmann), Vince Van De Velde (for
Robin Gullie), Matt Wallace, Lou Wilson and John York (for Steve Young). Public attendees
included Theresa Hatcher, Jerry Nevins and Dave Rech.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the
Bellevue Leader and the Papillion Times. Copies of the Proofs of Publication are on file
in the Sarpy County Clerk's Office. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting
was open to the attendance of the public.
Roll call was accomplished by sign-in sheet and by voice, with membership advising their position and duties. Wallace moved, seconded by Jordan, to approve the minutes of the April 29, 1998 LEPC meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
OFFICERS REPORTS:
Peterson relayed the Chairman's regrets, and reported two hazardous materials releases occurred at PCS Nitrogen since the last meeting.
SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:
Peterson opened the Exercise Subcommittee Report by reminding members to sign up to join the Offutt AFB upcoming exercise and hazardous materials tabletop exercises to be held across the county.
Peterson invited response personnel to contact Steve Jordan at 293-6215 to arrange training using the PCS Nitrogen Training Railcar when it visits LaPlatte between July 20 and August 28.
Jordan indicated that work on the public information pamphlet is going well. The goal is to have the pamphlets printed by the next LEPC meeting.
Mastandrea advised that the next State Emergency Response Commission meeting is June 17 at 1 PM at the NE Guard Armory at 10th and Military in Lincoln. Updates to the county emergency plan are being printed.
PROGRAM:
Rex Wamsley, Training Manager of the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, presented on hazardous materials courses, who should take them, and how to pay for them.
NEW BUSINESS:
Peterson thanked the LEPC for their participation and contribution to preparedness.
After determining the agenda for the September 9, 1998, meeting,
Jordan moved, seconded by Borman, to adjourn at 8:55 P.M. Motion passed unanimously.
