Accident Response Exercise

On Saturday, August 22 Offutt Air Force Base and civilian response agencies held a Major Accident Response Exercise in preparation for the Offutt Open House on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.
Military and civilian moulage artists made up or "moulaged" the "victims" at Midlands Community Hospital. Moulage includes a variety of procedures for making up participants of exercises so that they look like they have real injuries. Realistic injuries increase the effectiveness of community disaster drills and exercises.
Military and civilian responders assessed the severity of injuries and transported the wounded to area hospitals. Base security personnel maintained the crash site as a crime scene for later investigation.
Patients were triaged again at the hospital and assistance was simulated. After the exercise, a debriefing allowed participants to exchange feedback . Plans and training calendars will reflect exercise feedback.

Thanks to all exercise participants!

All injuries depicted on this page are made up to look real. No one was hurt in the creation of these photos. If photos of stage blood or staged burns, bruises or impaled objects are unacceptable to you, please use the back arrow on your browser now!
