Numerous ice storms have occurred in Sarpy County during the last several years. Most early winter storms are preceded by periods of freezing rain or drizzle.

Sarpy County is industrially and commercially oriented. Most of the population must commute to and from work. Ice storms make driving conditions hazardous. Since most people must drive, the county is highly susceptible to the problems created by an ice storm.
Maximum Threat - Rating: High
An early afternoon ice storm would create tremendous traffic problems for the Sarpy County area. Most main thoroughfares would be salted quickly but many rural and residential neighborhoods would not receive maintenance until heavily traveled areas were in proper condition. An early afternoon storm would make travel difficult during the afternoon commute from work.
Probability - Rating: Medium
The probability of an ice storm occurring in Sarpy County is high. However, the probability of a severe ice storm is low, leaving an overall rating of medium.
