Ice Report Photos

Sarpy County Emergency Management Agency collects ice data on the Elkhorn and Platte Rivers during the winter months for publication on the Nebraska Natural Resources Floodplain Management web site. Observations are taken at least once a week and are summarized on a weekly basis by the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency.

Below are links to ice photos taken by Sarpy County EMA.   Photos of the ice jam dynamiting operation are available on this web site.  A history of Ice Jams, including current data collection methods, has been performed by the US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering  Laboratory and is available for viewing or download in .pdf format.  Ice jam blasting operations photos are also available on this site.
