Sarpy County Local Emergency Planning Committee |
Sarpy County LEPC complies with all aspect of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. Hazardous chemical inventories and the emergency plan are generally available for public inspection between 8 AM and 4:45 PM during non-holiday weekdays, but interested parties are encouraged to call ahead and insure that other planning, training or response activities have not precluded availability. Or make an appointment and view them at your convenience! Our goal is to make this information available on our web site by mid-1998. Contact us via e-mail , or phone 402-593-5785.
All facilities using, storing, and/or manufacturing hazardous materials are encouraged to inventory those chemicals and compare them to The Title III List of Lists (requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader), which is also available in print at the Sarpy County Emergency Management Agency, 1210 Golden Gate Drive in Papillion, NE. Any chemical in inventory that exceeds the List's threshold planning quantity (TPQ), even for one day, must be reported. Blank report forms are also available at the above address.
Once completed, the forms must be returned as follows by March 1 of each calendar year:
The facility retains the original. The report covers the previous year's activity, so the reports due on March 1, 2001 cover chemicals manufactured, stored, and/or used between January 1 and December 31, 2000.
Facilities are reminded that the fine for noncompliance is up to $25,000 per day.
All facilities or transports releasing hazardous materials must compare the chemicals and amount released to The Title III List of Lists (Adobe pdf file), which is also available in print at the Sarpy County Emergency Management Agency, 1210 Golden Gate Drive in Papillion, NE. Any chemical release that exceeds the List's reportable quantity (RQ) must be reported within 15 minutes of determination of release. Please visit Where to Contact Us - In the Event of a Release for further information on how to report to the Sarpy County LEPC. You may also be required to report the release to the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
