Clean Indoor Air
The Health Department conducts inspections for the Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA), a uniform act regulating smoking in public places. To request an inspection of a public place, please phone 339-4334 ext. 206. Entrance stickers stating "Smoke-Free Environment" and "No Smoking Except in Designated Areas" are available free of charge. Drinking Water
The Health Department can provide information regarding public water systems and drinking water violations. To sample your drinking water, contact the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Laboratory at 402-471-2122.
Food/Restaurants
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture's (NDA) Food Division is responsible for all of the restaurant permits, inspections, and complaint investigations for Sarpy and Cass counties. All food and restaurant related inquiries should be directed to the NDA at 402-471-2536. Additional information can be found on the NDA's Food Division website.
Nuisance
The Health Department can assist residents of Sarpy and Cass counties with nuisance-related issues. However, inspections and enforcement are determined by the individual city or county code enforcement officer, building inspector, or like position.
Radon
The Health Department provides free short-term and long-term radon gas testing kits to homeowners in Sarpy and Cass counties. Kits will be available starting in January, 2008, and will be available only while supplies last.
The Health Department has assisted numerous school districts in Sarpy and Cass counties with radon-related science class projects. Schools interested in participating in the radon education program should contact the Health Department at 339-4334 ext. 206.

Swimming Pools
The Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services Swimming Pool Program is responsible for all of the licensing and inspections of swimming pools in Sarpy and Cass counties. All swimming pool related inquiries should be directed to the DHHS Swimming Pool Program at 402-471-8360. Additional information can be found on the DHHS Swimming Pool Programs website.
West Nile Virus
The Health Department conducts West Nile Virus activities from June - October each year. Dead bird collection, mosquito trapping, and mosquito larvae sampling are conducted during that time. Free mosquito repellent and educational materials are available to residents of Sarpy and Cass counties throughout the year.
