Giles Road, lane restriction near 144th Street

STARTING APRIL 17, lasting approximately three weeks: The eastbound lane of Giles will be restricted just west of 144th Street. Giles Road will remain open in both directions. Eastbound traffic will use the center turn lane.

Please use caution when driving in this area.

 

Fort Crook Road, Capehart and Fairview roads

 There will be an extended closure of Fort Crook Road between Capehart Road and Fairview Road beginning Monday, March 26 at 9:00 a.m. for approximately two months, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

This extended closure is necessary for the new alignment of Fort Crook Road between Capehart Road and Fairview Road.

Hawkins Construction Company of Omaha is the contractor on this project. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through construction zones, along detours and selected alternate routes.

Fairview Road, 156th to 168th streets

Sarpy County Environmental Services, along with Lessard Contracting Incorporated, will close Fairview Road, between 156th and 168th, for landfill capping activities.  The closure will commence at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 and is scheduled to last until Saturday, September 30, 2017, weather permitting. The contractor is hauling fill material to the landfill cap over a portion of the roadway.

We are asking the traveling public to be aware of the closure and to find alternate routes of travel. Local traffic will be allowed to access all properties throughout the construction.

Pflug Road, Fishery Road to 228th Street

Beginning Wednesday May 31, 2017 @ 12:00 P.M., Sarpy County Public Works has closed Pflug Road from  Fishery Road to 228th Street to through traffic.  Erosion and slope stability issues have caused an emergent condition which required the roadway to be closed.  Project duration and corrective work is forthcoming.

Harrison Street, 154th to 156th

Beginning Monday, April 2, 2018, Harrison Street will close between 156th Street and 154th Street for Phase 1a of the Harrison Street Project. This is for the removal of the old pavement, grading, storm sewer, box culvert and paving.

The detour routes for this closure are using 156th Street north to Q Street and then east on Q Street to 144th Street; and south to Giles Road then east on Giles Road to 144th Street.

We are asking the traveling public to be aware of the closure and to find alternate routes of travel.

156th Street, Harrison to Gertrude

Beginning Monday, April 23, 2018, 156th Street will close between Harrison Street and Gertrude Street for Phase 1B of the Harrison Street Project. The work will consist of removal of the old pavement, grading, storm sewer, and paving.

The detour route for eastbound Harrison Street for this phase of construction is 156th Street north to Q Street and then east on Q Street to 144th Street or 168th Street south to Giles Road, then east on Giles Road to 144th Street. The detour route for westbound Harrison Street for the remaining phases is 144th Street north to Q Street then west on Q Street to 168th Street or 144th Street to Giles Road then west on Giles Road to 168th Street.

The intersection of Harrison and 156th Street will remain open so the traveling public will be able to go north to Q Street.  Southbound traffic on 156th Street will need to travel to 168th Street, then south to Giles Road, then east on Giles Road to 144th Street.

Giles Road, 180th to 192nd

On Wednesday, May 2, Giles Road will close between 180th Street and 192nd Street for three to four weeks to allow the installation of a new Metropolitan Utilities District water main.

Kersten Construction crews will be placing the new 36-inch line under nearby railroad tracks and a culvert, making this closure necessary.

During the closure, there will be no access to the neighborhoods north of this area directly from Giles Road. However, the intersections at 180th and 192nd will remain open, providing access to the neighborhoods.

The detour route will be 192nd Street north to Harrison Street, then east to 180th Street.

Sarpy County is experiencing rapid growth and development, particularly in this area, and we are working with our partner utilities to update our infrastructure accordingly.

We are asking the public to use caution through this area.

Capehart Road, 144th to 150th streets

On Wednesday, May 2, Capehart Road will close from 144th to 150th streets for grading, paving and drainage improvements. The closing date is dependent on weather.

Sarpy County is partnering with Facebook and the City of Papillion on this project, which is designed to improve Capehart Road near the Facebook data center as well as future development in the area.

The intersection of Capehart Road and 150th Street will remain open at this time but will close later in the project for grading and paving of the intersection.

The closure is expected to last until early October, weather permitting.

Vrana Construction is the contractor for the project.
