Mike Jones joined the Sarpy County Sheriffs Department on June 1, 2005. Before joining the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office as Chief Deputy, Jones had been the Nebraska State Patrol Commander for Troop A in Omaha Nebraska since 1995.

Mike Jones began his patrol career in 1977 as a road officer assigned in Blair. Since that time, he has worked assignments in the drug division, SWAT team and traffic services. Jones served in a supervisory capacity at all levels of traffic and investigative services. Jones is a graduate of the 107th Session of the Northwestern Staff and Command School, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters of Arts Degree in Leadership from Bellevue University. He is an adjunct instructor for Metro Community College and Bellevue University.
