File an Accident Report
If you are involved in a traffic accident and you need to obtain a copy of the accident form, you may obtain the form from the Nebraska Department of Transportation and Public Safety's web site --> Nebraska Drivers Motor Vehicle Accident Report
Obtain a Handgun Permit
To obtain a handgun permit, you can pick up an application form at the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office between 8:00 am - 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Documents that are required at the time of application are a current Nebraska operator's license, Nebraska State ID card or Military ID card with PCS orders. The address on your Nebraska ID must be current and match the address on the application. If your only form of ID is a Military ID card, then you must also provide proof of Sarpy County residency by presenting a utility bill, vehicle registration or lease agreement that shows your current address. The application fee is $5.00. Applicants born outside of the U.S. must also provide a copy of their citizenship papers, U.S. Passport, birth certificate or alien resident card. In order to obtain a handgun certificate from our office, you must be at least 21 years of age and be a current resident of Sarpy County.

Get a Vehicle out of Impound
If your vehicle has been towed, call our Impound Lot at 253-2590.
Take care of a Traffic Ticket
If you have received a traffic ticket and if the citation indicates that you do not have to appear in court, you can opt to pay the fine at the Sarpy County Court Office, 402-593-5775. If your citation indicates that you have to appear, then you must appear at the time and date indicated on the citation.

Request a Ride Along
Ride-Along Program
Permission for a ride-along is usually granted only for college interns and citizens who are actively pursuing a law enforcement career with the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office. Exceptions may be granted on a very limited basis for special circumstances.Citizens seeking to participate must complete a Ride-Along Request Form. If the participant is under the age of nineteen (19), a parent or guardian must also sign the form. No person under the age of sixteen (16) shall be allowed to participate in a ride-along without special permission from the Sheriff. The form can be printed, filled out and mailed to:

A records check will be completed on the citizen requesting a ride-along. No person with a criminal history shall be granted a ride along without special permission from the Sheriff.Those granted permission may only ride between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
Participants shall wear appropriate and clean attire. The following are not permitted: short skirts, short dresses, short shorts, bare backs, low backs, low fronts, halter/tube tops, midriff or sheer tops, and open shirts.
Participants are only observers, and they shall not become involved with any situation.
No recording devices (audio or video) are permitted without the specific approval of the Sheriff.
Participants are not allowed to leave the patrol cruiser unless permitted by the deputy.
Participants are not allowed to carry a weapon during the ride-along.
